2 Hour Boat Tour of Lake Dora
and The Dora Canal
The Dora Canal opened in 1882 after Orlando Lawyer, Major Alexander St. Clair Abrams paid for the Elfin River to be straightened and widened to allow the larger steamboats to navigate from Lake Dora to Lake Eustis and into the Oklawaha River System with their cargo of mail and citrus. The canal remains navigable today and is surrounded by bald cypress trees and a swampy backwater that is a magnet to Alligators, Herons, Turtles, Anhingas and many other birds. This beautiful waterway is a Florida Attraction, hundreds of thousands of people tour it every year.
Our Educational Boat Field Trip will allow your students to study the wildlife, plant life, geography and history of the bald cypress tree lined canal and enjoy being out on the Harris Chain of Lakes.
